Loving My Fruit Flies

Scab – one of the conditions that we’ve been trying to breed out of apples for decades, in fact could be slowing or preventing cancer cells from establishing in our bodies! I love a twist in the plot. It reminded me that many plant constituents exist to save the plant from viruses and other attackers, so sometimes the mostly motley of them are fullest of the constituents that healed them – and will heal me. I choose my herbs a bit differently now that I know that. And I look at my timeworn friends differently now, and I wonder at how many parallel truths have to be meditated on to discover the number of layers this has.

Cheep Entertainment

I just went out tonight to close up the chickens and found four of my city houseguests crammed into the chookhouse. They each had a chicken in arms, on a shoulder or cuddled under a chin. There is something about hugging small complaint beasts that transcends ego, reason and expensive clothing.

Destinations

One of the items I gleaned from Basil last evening was the skeleton of a gazebo, not too rusty, mostly intact, and I want to set it into the acre of alderwood – I want a space you can just come upon suddenly and know that you have to sit inside of – like a metal cage with a human in it, encircled with thimbleberries and salmonberry.
